About
Welcome peeps! My name is Jessi(ca) Bloom, and I’m pretty new to this whole blogosphere world. This isn’t just a chicken blog, or just a gardening blog, but I may be sharing some of my experiences with gardening, chickens, possibly even a couple of turkeys, ducks or other random topics that may come up in my life… as a farm girl, mama and horticulturalist. Basically I’ll write about what ever I want!
My real job is designing landscapes and managing the day to day operations of www.nwbloom.com. When I am not designing and building other peoples gardens, I can be found with dirty fingernails in my own garden or playing around with animals in the barn on our little farm. We are in Snohomish County (zone 7b), just north of Seattle WA where I live with my husband and two little boys. I’m a WSNLA CPH or Certified Professional Horticulturalist as well as an ISA Certified Arborist and have been lucky to be in a career where it is perfectly acceptable to geek out about plants. I try to live as sustainably as possible and am a wanna-be foodie – constantly learning new recipes and cooking with my family. I’ve been known to be a little crazy, have weird hobbies and participate in sports like roller derby, where I skated for Seattle’s Rat City Rollergirls for several years.
Oh, and last but not least, I wrote this book for Timber Press, which was just released in January 2012. I invite you to join in the fun and share your passion for gardening and/or chickens, and feel free to laugh with me (or at me) in the many adventures of Garden Fowl!
